  1. Good discussion. Unfortunately, people in the larger society do not know or follow the teachings of the Scripture, When the burden of proof is on the accuser in the specific instance of sexual abuse, and if protecting the accused (who may have committed the act) is the priority, people in positions of power will always win the day. If something is strongly desired, then political power will be used to make it happen— the end will justify the means. There is no such thing as the “court of public opinion.” I think that is a strawman phrase. However, people who comprise the public have every right to make up their own minds given careful and fair-minded examination of empirical evidence.. Where there is disagreement about a specific act, the only conclusion is this: someone lied.
